Outchoue Ecolodge

Located in Boulouparis on the Hauts de la Ouitchambo, on a 400 hectare property between mountain ranges, forests, waterfalls and river, the Ecogîte de la Ouatchoue offers you a real natural setting to recharge your batteries, rest or immerse yourself in Caledonian bush with various activities.

The concept? Stay surrounded by nature in a large house built with ecological materials in a valley just 1:15 hours from Noumea. Self-built in wood and on stilts, the 560 m2 house on two floors is oriented to optimize the production of solar energy. The Ecogîte de la Ouatchoue makes every effort to best meet ecological and practical concerns: wood heating, photovoltaic and thermal solar energy, waste sorting, dry toilets, reuse of waste water.

You will find at the Ecogîte de la Ouatchoue:an orchard, 12 crayfish breeding ponds, a veritable water garden and natural setting for wildlife and the forest, a pond filled with water lilies and koi carp, as well as a mini farm, where you can meet chickens, geese, peacocks and ducks.

The Gîte consists of a large common room of 150 m2 including a library with hundreds of books at your disposal, a large table can accommodate 26 people and a table football, a common kitchen, 5 bedrooms, two shared bathrooms, a terrace and has a barbecue in the garden.

The 55m2 kitchen is fully equipped: 10 cooking rings, gas oven, pans, saucepans, pots, crockery, cutlery, spices, herbs, oils and vinegars, coffee, tea, cleaning essentials...

The 5 bedrooms upstairs are composed as follows:

- 4 bedrooms can accommodate up to 4 people.

- 1 bedroom can accommodate up to 6 people.

Two shared bathrooms are at your disposal in which you will find 3 showers, 3 dry toilets and 3 sinks.

The cottage also offers a table d'hôte for groups of 12 people or more, only for guests of the cottage. Ask us for prices.

Bathing

100 meters from the cottage, you will discover a water hole along the Ouatchoue river in which you can swim.

Hikes

From the cottage, you have access to several hiking trails:

• the Pic Ouitchambo which you can do in about 3 hours round trip;
• Viewpoint 1 which you can do in about 2h round trip;
• Viewpoint 3 which you can do in about 2h40 round trip;
• Mont-Do that you can do in about 5 hours round trip;
• Oui Poin (GR3): 11 hour one-way trek (2 large refuges are available with toilets, BBQ, dormitory, dining room)

Hunting is a possible activity at the Ecogîte de la Ouatchoue. Certain conditions apply, do not hesitate to contact us for all the details.

The Peach

Crayfish fishing is a unique activity in New Caledonia. When it's the season, we entrust you with traps and bait. The sale is made by weight after sorting.
